An entity can apply for a BEE exempt certificate (BEE EME) aka BEE Scorecard when it's turnover is less than R 10 million per annum.
The following busines sectors do have different turnover thresholds:
- Tourism - R 2 million
- Construction - R 1.5 million
It is important to always have your certificate up date. A certificate is valid for a year. We will remind you annually when your renewal is due, and make sure you are always in possession of a valid certificate.
A company cannot apply for tenders at municipalities, government departments or any other state owned entities without a valid BEE scorecard.
The certificate of your business will be used by other companies to claim procurement spent. The more a business make use of BEE compliant suppliers, the better it's change of obtaining a high level certificate.
BEE exempt certificate application
Value Added Enterprise:
A VAT registered company, registered as vendor under the Value added tax law, and whose total sum of net profit before tax and total labor cost exceeds 25% of the value of is turnover ..... will be a value added enterprise.
A value added enterprise receive an enhanced recognition of 125%, which means that every rand spend will be multiplied by 1.25 before applying the contribution status.

- Most recent CIPRO / CIPC registration documents
- Identity documents of all directors and shareholders
- Proof of shareholding
- Proof that annual turnover is less that R 5 million.
