There are various ways to do a VAT registration number search.
You might need it to search if SARS issued your Value added tax number after a registration, without phoning the call centre, or to confirm that a supplier or client are really registered.
You can search the number here, from the website of the South African Revenue Services.
To be able to do this search you would need at least one of the following details:
1. Using the VAT registration number, if you know that or received it from a client or supplier.
2. Using the trading name of the business.
It is important to issue tax invoices correctly and also to make sure that your suppliers issue a tax invoice to you correctly.
